We Built This Because We Needed It
Back in 2019, a small group of analysts couldn't find training that actually matched what happens in corporate finance departments.
Most programs taught theory. We needed something that worked when you're staring at messy data at 11 PM before a board meeting. So we started teaching each other—and that's how Maneris began.
From Spreadsheets to Something Bigger
Three of us were working at different firms across Canada and the States. We kept running into the same problem: junior analysts who knew the formulas but couldn't connect financial data to actual business decisions.
One night, after yet another frustrating conversation about discount rates, we sketched out what real training might look like. Not academic. Not full of consultant-speak. Just the stuff you actually use when building models that executives trust.
By early 2020, we'd run a few informal workshops. People liked them. They asked for more. By 2021, we had a waiting list. Now we're teaching analysts across multiple sectors—and honestly, we're still figuring things out as we go.
What We Actually Focus On
We're not trying to replace formal education. We're filling the gap between theory and the real work you do every day.
Real Scenarios
You'll work with datasets that look like what you see at work—incomplete information, conflicting priorities, tight deadlines. Because that's reality.
Analytical Judgment
Numbers tell stories, but only if you know how to read them. We teach you to spot what matters and explain it clearly to non-finance people.
Practical Tools
From building sensitivity tables that executives can actually use to structuring models that won't break when assumptions change—this is the stuff that saves you time.
Who's Teaching This
We're not professors. We're people who've spent years doing this work and now help others get better at it.
Our team includes folks who've worked in corporate finance, private equity, and restructuring advisory. We've built models for acquisitions, evaluated capital projects, and sat through countless budget reviews.
Dagny Fjelstad
Director of Analytical Programs
Dagny spent seven years in corporate restructuring before she got tired of seeing talented analysts struggle with valuation basics. She started running workshops on weekends, and those turned into our core curriculum.
She's blunt about what works and what doesn't. If a technique sounds good in theory but falls apart in practice, she'll tell you. That's probably why people keep coming back to her sessions.
How We Think About Learning
Finance education shouldn't feel like memorizing textbooks. It should feel like getting better at your job.
We design programs around what actually trips people up. Connecting cash flow statements to strategic decisions. Building models that handle uncertainty. Communicating technical analysis to business leaders who don't care about your formulas.
- We start with problems you'll recognize from work
- We show you multiple approaches, not just one "right" way
- We give you templates and frameworks you can adapt
- We're honest when something's complicated or context-dependent
Our programs run throughout 2025 and into early 2026. Most are designed for working professionals—evenings and weekends, with recorded sessions if you miss something.
